Important Notes
- Please do not insure your mailpiece for more than it is worth. Do not include the cost of postage in the value for which you ensure the mailpiece; postage fees are not recoverable through Stamps.com insurance.
- The package recipient should hold damaged items in the event they are requested during claims processing. FAILURE TO RETAIN DAMAGED PROPERTY COULD AFFECT FINAL SETTLEMENT OF THE CLAIM.
- Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express include $50-$100 of USPS insurance ($200 for Priority Mail Express International). You may purchase Stamps.com insurance in addition to or instead of this coverage, but the total amount claimed for a package cannot exceed the total value of the package.
- Do not include the cost of postage in your claim; postage fees are not recoverable through Stamps.com insurance.
- Warning: Any fraudulent claims will make the shipper and/or package recipient liable for prosecution for mail fraud under the Federal Criminal Code.
